Spring Reflections

Whether you are religious, spiritual or just a human-being Easter is a great time to reflect on the year so far and how you can improve things for the future. I love the idea of rebirth and don’t think it is just applicable during New Year; every morning is an opportunity for a new start, we should be reflecting regularly so let’s use Easter as an excuse to do just that.

How? To say right I am going to be reborn, I will change my life for the best, is quite overwhelming and definitely can’t be done overnight but as my father always says ‘you can’t eat the elephant all in one go’ – I must note here that I never have nor ever will want to eat an elephant it’s just a good analogy to use. So let’s get chopping.

What do you like and what do you want to change?

Be realistic, you are you and not someone else, so if you want to turn in to Kim Kardashian I seriously recommend seeking professional mental help. We can’t cut out all the parts of ourselves we don’t like as that is part of being human, it is healthier to accept ourselves for who we are but that is not to say we can’t improve our good qualities. Rebirth of any kind only works with congruence, meaning we have to be true to ourself. As I said previously, to want to become an entirely different person is pathological and will only cause you to stress, so rather find qualities about yourself you wish to enhance.

I will take you through my elephant dinner and then you can give it ago!

Things I like about myself (we are in a society that would call this big-headed but it is so important to acknowledge your good bits too!)

  1. I get things done
  2. I am passionate about the things I care about
  3. I take every opportunity to enhance my world view

Things I want to change

  1. I want to be more organised
  2. I want to give myself more time
  3. I want to commit to my blog and youtube channel

So now I know what I want to change and what I want to stay the same I can work on an action plan. For me, that looks like making a routine and sticking to it but of course, it is not as simple as that.

Rebirth is not a quick fix and there will be snags but persistence is key. For me, making a routine is no easy feat, I am a busy bee and my life is constantly changing, but through trial and error, I will begin to construct some routines that work for me. When I settle into one I will make sure I share. But for now, I will reflect on what works for me and what I could do with getting rid of.

I hope this helps and remember this is your rebirth, not Kim K’s so be true to you.
